WHITE NOISE
This series is informed by forms of mark-making and layering in urban spaces and street art — shapes, colours, forms, surfaces, and messages. This visual noise is translated onto canvas through layers of paint, destroying shapes to create new ones, coming to a halt at varying levels of complexity. Through continuous input they are covered, distorted, deconstructed and reconstructed —a glitch mixing analogue and digital forms.
ILLEGIBLE SCRIPT
Handwriting is closer to the movement of the heart, they say. Do we still put greater value on handwriting as human expression than on letterforms with a machine aesthetic? Illegible Script is a series on text in contemporary, post-digital society. Each piece explores the form of a single letter or handwriting motion — distorted, contorted, disfigured. A glitch mixing analogue and digital forms – until it descends fully into noise.
POETRY OBSCURA
Visual poetry of quiet reflection through loud expression, informed by obscured messages in urban landscapes. The quarantine work within this series was created during the 2020 London lockdown. It explores the theme of being alone together, and more broadly themes of communication and use of resources in self-isolation. Pieces of paper, little snippets of time and place, a memento puzzle piece are the most important layer. A mixed media series created with only existing materials found in the home studio, deconstructed and reconstructed.
